Privacy Policy

Your portfolio is personal. We believe your data should be treated that way.

This policy explains what information Hedgster collects, why we use it, and the choices available to you. It covers the Hedgster website and Hedge Score chat.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use Hedgster, we may collect:

• Information you provide when you contact us, such as your email address and the details in your message. If you joined our launch list before Hedgster launched, we also hold the email address and consent you gave then.
• If you sign up with Google for our newsletter, the email address of your Google account and the date you signed up.
• Portfolio information you choose to upload, including screenshots, holdings, and allocations, along with the scores and analysis generated from them.
• Technical information, such as your IP address, browser information, upload filenames and sizes, and chat usage events. Some events include a session identifier or score.
• Website usage information collected by Google Analytics, such as the pages you visit, how you arrived, and your device, browser and approximate location.
• Messages and feedback you send us.

How we use your information

We use information to operate and improve Hedgster, deliver portfolio analysis, troubleshoot issues, protect the service against misuse, and respond to your requests. If you joined our launch list before launch, we use your email address to tell you about the launch and your founding-member offer.

If you continue with Google in the sign-in prompt on our website and then choose Subscribe, we use your email address to send the Hedgster newsletter and app updates. Your email is saved only if you choose Subscribe; signing up is optional, and you can unsubscribe at any time. It does not create a Hedgster account.

Where permitted and appropriate, we may also use aggregated or de-identified information to understand how the product performs.

Portfolio and financial information

We understand that investment information can be sensitive.

Portfolio data is used to provide the analysis and functionality you request. Uploaded screenshots are sent to Microsoft's Azure OpenAI service to extract holdings. Remove account numbers and other unnecessary personal details before uploading.

Our scoring service receives holdings and allocations to calculate scores and potential hedge scenarios. Our market-data service receives ticker symbols to identify investments and retrieve prices. Scores and generated analysis are stored in a scoring session. For launch-list signups made before launch, a score range may also be stored with the signup.

The website and chat do not execute transactions or connect to your brokerage accounts. Any account-access functionality would be separately disclosed and require your authorization.

Service providers

We rely on third-party providers for infrastructure, hosting, screenshot processing, email delivery, Google sign-in, and website analytics. These providers process information where necessary to deliver their services, subject to applicable agreements and safeguards.

Azure OpenAI processes uploaded images and extracted information. When we send emails, our email provider processes recipient addresses and email content. Google Identity Services verifies your Google account when you sign up with Google; Google processes this under its own privacy policy. The website also loads fonts from Google Fonts. Loading external services sends technical information, such as your IP address and browser information, to their providers.

Cookies and analytics

We record chat usage events, such as uploads, scoring attempts, and taps on the App Store button, to understand how the product performs and troubleshoot issues. These records may include session identifiers and can be associated with a scoring session.

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use the website, for example which pages are viewed and which links are clicked. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and sends usage information, including your IP address, to Google, which processes it under its own privacy policy. We use these reports in aggregate. You can opt out with Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.

Google's sign-in prompt may use cookies or similar technologies for its functionality and security. Third-party services we link to, such as the App Store, may use cookies or similar technologies under their own policies. You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Where required, we will provide notices and choices before introducing non-essential tracking.

Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, and disclosure. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Data retention and deletion

We retain personal information for the purposes described in this policy, subject to legitimate operational and legal requirements. Scoring sessions expire and are deleted when an expired session is retrieved. Expiry alone does not guarantee immediate deletion of stored records.

Newsletter and launch-list signups, consent records, feedback, and usage events do not currently have an automatic deletion schedule. Service providers may retain processing and operational records under their own applicable terms.

You may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information. We will handle these requests according to applicable law.

Your privacy choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of certain personal information, or to object to particular uses. Contact us to exercise applicable rights.

The chat does not ask for your email address. To unsubscribe from the newsletter, app updates or launch emails, reply "unsubscribe" to an email or write to support@hedgster.com.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Hedgster evolves. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the latest version. We will provide additional notice where required for material changes.
